Capacity Evaluation Testing Procedures
"Performance Based Physical Capacity Evaluation — 'HDP'™ Protocol" provides objective, accurate, and hard-data documentation that can be statistically analyzed to verify the patient's biomechanical and physiological capabilities. There is no eyeballing or subjective evaluation techniques. This evaluation uses media technology that captures the examinee's actual body postures, which are then digitally produced as color figures and analyzed using biomechanics techniques.
- Anatomical Demand Comparison
This test is designed for cases where there is a significant anatomical barrier to work environments. The duration of the test depends upon the condition of the patient. - Job Demands Comparison
This test evaluates the patients' ability to perform a specified job. The required work environment is simulated. The duration of the test depends on the work being simulated and the condition of the patient. - General Job Demands Comparison
This test defines the profile of work the patient is capable of executing. The duration of the test is five hours, or longer if necessary. - Maximum Dependable Comparison
This test is to determine the maximum tolerance for specific work environments. The duration is usually more than two days. A consultation between the authorizing agency and EPI Rehab is suggested before ordering the procedure.
Therapeutic Interventions
- Shoulder Rehabilitation
Developed by Dr. Becker, this program is an exclusive rehabilitation procedure of the caliber administered to world-class athletes. The treatment regime and duration is tailored to the patient's needs. - Work Conditioning
The primary focus is physiological improvement of work-related biomechanics. This program is tailored to the individual needs of the patient. This is a two hour per day, five days a week program as a precursor to returning to work or a step-wise progression to Work Hardening. - Upper or Lower Extremity Dedicated Work Conditioning
This program incorporates all the scientific principles of the general work conditioning program. It specifically trains endurance restoration so the patient learns how to use all muscle systems and avoids aggravation of their old injury or a reoccurrence of injury. This program is five days per week, two hours per day. - Work Hardening
This is a task directed program tailored to the needs of the patient to reach their job goal. This is a five day a week program from four to eight hours per day, four weeks or longer. It rehabilitates the patient to be physically capable and return to work safely. - Upper or Lower Extremity Dedicated Work Hardening
This is a specific work task program. Biomechanics and physiological endurance is emphasized for the upper and/or lower extremity demands of the job. Onsite job evaluations and tools of the job are included where appropriate. This is a five day per week program that progresses from four hour to eight hours. The duration is four weeks with extensions when indicated and authorized.
Pre- and Re- employment Screening
- Task Specific Pre-Employment Screening
The patient is tested and measured against institutional standards. Please contact EPI Rehab for specifics. - Pre-Employment Testing
Utilizing the "INRTEK"™ isokinetic testing, the physical tolerances of potential employees are matched to the physical demands of the potential employment. - Re-Employment Limb Or Trunk Isolated Isokinetic Testing
Using standardized protocols individualized anatomical strength can be determined. This is excellent for post-operative orthopedic and neurological consultation. The duration of the test depends upon the patient.
