Functional Capacity Evaluations

What is a Functional Capacity Evaluation

Functional Capacity Evaluations test and measure an individual's ability to engage in sustainable and predictable, daily living and work activities.

The science of an EPI Rehab FCE

HDP® Hard Data Protocol

Our FCE report is based on HDP® Hard Data Protocol, which focuses on the science of biomechanics and work physiology. HDP® was developed by Dr. Theodore Becker PhD of human performance, and is backed by his published research, peer reviewed texts, and journals. The process includes motor skill evaluation, endurance/stamina testing, strength and motion/flexibility, and validity determinations. Each FCE report includes an explanation and commentary on the analysis and interpretation of the data.

Methodology & Unique Features

Real-time Objective Biomechanical Analysis

Each report includes pictures from the FCE showing the objective biomechanics as advised by the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.

Comparative Data Analysis

When appropriate, our FCE protocol includes a comparative analysis of current and previous data from other FCE reports and medical records to provide a definitive profile of the person's ability.

Redundancy Testing Over Time

The EPI Rehab FCE report features an analysis of redundancy testing over time that determines constant or fluctuating strength and stamina for the examinee.

Heart-Rate Reserve Formula

We use the heart rate reserve formula from the science of work physiology in our FCEs to determine an individual's ability to perform full-time work.

Real Science

Published and peer reviewed science backs all methods used in our FCEs. We do not use any subjective observational techniques or proprietary systems.

Patent

We developed and patented the first pinch and hand-grasp measurement calibration devices to ensure that the testing is as accurate as possible.
